A 17-suite beachfront hotel at Thalpe, named after Edward Lear's poem, spread across 4 buildings painted blue, beige, pink and yellow.

Its furniture, textiles and art were made for it by more than 20 artists and craftspeople, and the rooms range in size between 32 sq m doubles and a 2-bedroom suite with its own kitchen.

There is an 18-metre pool at the ocean's edge and a seafood-led restaurant on a terrace by the sea, and the hotel sponsors the Edward Lear Prize for Poetry at the Galle Literary Festival.
