The short version
We set no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, and no cross-site identifiers. Our analytics tool is cookieless. We keep one small browser storage entry — and only after you ask us to dismiss the analytics notice.
What sits on your device, in full
When you visit this site the following items may be written to your browser. Nothing else is.
ce-consent
Type. localStorage · strictly necessary · first-party.
Purpose. Remembers that you have dismissed the cookieless-analytics notice, so you do not see it on every page.
Lifetime. Up to twelve months. You can clear it at any time in your browser's site-data settings.
tce:gate-open
Type. sessionStorage · strictly necessary · first-party.
Purpose. Remembers that you have entered through the cover, so the entrance gate does not appear on every page during the same session.
Lifetime. Cleared automatically when you close the tab.
Why we use Plausible
We use Plausible Analytics to understand how the site is read. Plausible is hosted in the European Union and is deliberately cookieless. It does not set identifiers on your device, does not follow you across other sites, and does not collect any personal data. We see aggregate facts — which pages are read, where readers arrive from, how long they stay — and nothing about any individual.
Because no personal data is collected and no information is stored on your device, Plausible does not require consent under UK PECR or the EU ePrivacy Directive. We show the notice anyway, in plain English, because we think you should know.
Third-party content
The site embeds no third-party advertising, no Facebook / LinkedIn / X pixels, no Google Analytics, no Hotjar, and no chat-widget scripts. If we ever introduce a third-party that would set cookies, we will update this page and prompt for consent before loading it.
Your choices
- Most browsers let you clear site data — including localStorage and sessionStorage — from the address bar or privacy settings. Removing them resets the notice and gate state; the site continues to work.
- If you would prefer not to be counted in our aggregate statistics, Plausible publishes instructions for excluding yourself. We will honour the choice without question.
