An 18-room hotel in a 17th-century merchant's house inside Galle Fort, once home to spice, tea and gem traders, which Teardrop Hotels restored and opened in January 2016.

The rooms are set around a courtyard shaded by a banyan, frangipani and a mango tree, with a small pool, a spa and the Church Street Social restaurant on site.

Stays booked direct include breakfast, afternoon tea in the courtyard, an early-evening drinks hour and a morning walk through the fort with a heritage guide.
