These terms

This page sets out the terms on which The Ceylon Envoy (“we”, “us”) makes this website and our concierge service available to you. By visiting the site or sending us an inquiry you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

The site

The pages here are editorial — they describe our approach, sample journeys, and the experience pillars we draw on. The site is not an instant booking engine. Nothing on it is a binding offer. The price, scope, inclusions, and exact composition of any journey are agreed in writing with your envoy, in the proposal that follows your inquiry.

We may add, remove, or change pages without notice; we will not silently rewrite a proposal that has already been issued to you.

How an engagement begins

  1. You write to us — through the form at /inquire or by email — describing the trip you have in mind.
  2. Your envoy replies, usually within two working days, and a conversation begins. Nothing is owed at this stage.
  3. When the shape of the journey is clear, we send a written proposal with the scope, the dates, the rooms held for you, what is included, the price, and the deposit terms.
  4. The engagement begins when you confirm the proposal in writing and pay the deposit. The proposal — together with these terms — forms our agreement.

What you agree to

  • To give us accurate names, dates, and travel-document details. We rely on what you tell us.
  • To hold valid passports and visas for everyone in your party, and appropriate travel insurance for the duration of the journey. Insurance is your responsibility, not ours.
  • To use the site lawfully — not to attempt to disrupt it, impersonate another person, or scrape its content for commercial republication.

Pricing, deposits, cancellations

Each proposal carries its own price, deposit, and cancellation schedule, which apply for that journey only. They reflect the cancellation terms of the rooms, drivers, guides, and experiences we hold for you, and so vary with how close to departure a change is requested.

We never make changes to a confirmed proposal without your written consent. If a supplier changes their terms after you have confirmed, we will tell you and offer alternatives at no additional cost where we can.

Third parties

We are a concierge, not a tour operator in the consolidated sense. The hotels, planters' bungalows, lodges, drivers, guides, vessels, and experiences we engage on your behalf remain the responsibility of the supplier providing them. We choose them carefully, brief them on our own standards, and stay on call throughout — but acts or omissions on the ground are theirs.

Force majeure

Some interruptions are no-one's fault — weather, public health, civil unrest, a closed airspace. Where they make a confirmed journey impossible or unsafe, we will work with you to reschedule, re-route, or refund non-committed amounts. We cannot guarantee a full refund where suppliers have themselves passed costs through.

Intellectual property

The text, photography, marks, and design of this site belong to The Ceylon Envoy or to the originators credited beside the work. You are welcome to share a page with attribution. You are not licensed to republish it in full, train a model on the imagery, or pass off the brand as your own.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited in law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability arising out of any single engagement is capped at the sums paid to us under the proposal in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising under them is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Colombo. UK visitors retain consumer-protection rights that cannot be waived; nothing here removes them.

Changes

We update these terms occasionally. The date at the top of this page changes when they do. Material changes that affect a journey already confirmed will not apply to that journey without your written consent.
