A small tented camp beside the Kochchipathana tank on the edge of Yala National Park, run by Kulu Safaris, which has taken guests on tented safaris in Sri Lanka for about 2 decades.

The tents were made in South Africa and stand on raised wooden platforms, set apart for privacy, each with a veranda and an en-suite bathroom.

Game drives run mainly in Blocks 1 and 5 in adapted Land Cruisers with open canopies, and stays of 3 nights or more reach Blocks 3 and 4 and Lunugamvehera.

Good to know

  • Families are welcome: 2 Family Tents sleep up to 4, and the guides run learning activities for children.
  • Yala National Park closes Blocks 1 and 2 for part of each dry season, usually for about a month from September, with dates set each year; safaris then run in other blocks or at Lunugamvehera.
