A heritage hotel of 9 rooms in a manor house at Amunugama, Gunnepana, in tropical gardens just beyond Kandy. The house was commissioned in 1804 by the last Chief Minister of the Kandyan Kingdom, in a mix of Kandyan, Moorish and Dutch design, and 4 Diyawadana Nilames of the Temple of the Tooth Relic later lived in it. It has been restored with its antiques.
There are 4 Ultra Rooms of 450 to 660 sq ft and 5 Deluxe Rooms of 300 to 330 sq ft, each with its own name and each looking onto the avenue. Black Raja, of 660 sq ft, has a connecting room.
The verandah restaurant serves Sri Lankan and international dishes, with a Sri Lankan meal of 10 curries twice a week, and meals by the pool or on a private terrace. There is an outdoor pool, a spa and a health club, and each guest has a butler, who arranges walks through the spice garden and through the paddy fields to Degaldoruwa Temple, cooking demonstrations and electric tuk-tuk rides.
