A 6-room hotel at Thalkote, about 1 km from Sigiriya Rock, founded by 2 Sri Lankans who came home from Australia to build it, with architecture that borrows from the rock fortress.

Each room is named for a Sigiriya story and looks out to Sigiriya and Pidurangala; the top-floor honeymoon suite has a glass-walled bathroom and a balcony facing both rocks.

The land was bare when it was bought and about 300 trees have since been planted; birds, butterflies, star tortoises and sometimes wild elephants pass through.
