An 18-room hotel built around an 18th-century manor house that was once home to the Head Chieftain of Galle and was later occupied by Lord Mountbatten and the Royal Air Force.

It sits in 7 acres of old tropical gardens with a jungle-fringed pool, an open-sided restaurant and a spa, 20 minutes from the international airport, which makes it a quiet first or last night.

Daily afternoon tea on the verandah and an evening social hour with local spirits, beer and house wine are included in a stay.
