A 14-room heritage hotel on the bank of the Parakrama Samudra, built in 1870 as a circuit bungalow for British government agents and later the Polonnaruwa Rest House.

Queen Elizabeth II stayed here in 1954, and the Royal Suite is named for that visit; most rooms face the reservoir, and a pool sits under a tree at the water's edge.
